Welcome to El Retiro Lodge, a riverside lodge in Lanquín made for travellers who want both connection and calm. Surrounded by nature and set along the river, El Retiro offers dorms, semi-private and private rooms, a swimming pool, hammocks, reading and chill-out spaces, and plenty of room to unwind at your own pace. It is the perfect base for discovering Semuc Champey and enjoying local experiences such as tubing, cave tours, cacao tours, and more. We also offer shuttles and transport connections to make exploring the region easier.
Popular with young couples and small groups of friends, El Retiro combines peaceful moments in nature with a relaxed social atmosphere. Spend your day by the river, in a hammock or by the pool, then enjoy a more lively vibe on some evenings around the bar and common areas. Because the property includes paths, steps and different levels, it is best suited to guests who enjoy an active outdoor setting

El Retiro is set on a hillside by the river, with stairs, uneven paths and different levels across the property. Some rooms and common areas require walking up and down, including access between the restaurant, rooms and shared spaces. For this reason, the hostel may not be the best fit for guests with reduced mobility or anyone who may find this layout physically challenging. If you are unsure, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to help.

Cash in Guatemalan quetzales is recommended. Card payments are available at the only at the bar with a 5% surcharge.
We recommend bringing enough cash for your stay, as Lanquin has only one ATM and it may not always be working.
